No other tour offers so many different aspects of Australia without any stress in just 12 days: outback, sea, rainforest and…curves.
Handing-over of the motorcycles and detailed introduction. You will have the opportunity to get accustomed to the bike as well as driving on the left, when doing the first roundtrip through the goldfields which had once been the richest gold deposits in Australia. We will have dinner together in Castlemaine.
The first section of the tour leads us from Castlemaine to Bendigo, which will be our first stop. We will have the opportunity to visit an old gold mine or the Chinese museum. From here, our way goes north to Echuca, most famous for its paddle steamers. Before continuing our trip, you can have lunch here, visit the historic port or take a cruise on a paddle steamer. We will stay in Swan Hill. Dinner can everyone have to their own taste.
From Swan Hill we take small by-roads along the Murray River to Mildura, where we will stay overnight. You will have the opportunity for a wine tasting session and a sunset kayak trip on the river in the evening.
During day 4, we will head north and cross the border between Victoria and New South Wales. Our destination is the Mungo National Park. On our way into the park we will get in contact with our first gravel road. But ‘No worries, mate!’, as the Aussies say, all gravel roads we will take on this tour can easily be managed even by the unexperienced driver. After having lunch and moving into our accommodation for the night, we will hit the road again to drive the 70 km loop road through the park, where undescribable landscapes wait for us.
The next 340 km long stretch takes us through small remote towns to the edge of the outback, Broken Hill. With every kilometre towards Broken Hill, you will feel the changes in the landscape and the rough influence of the outback.
This day is our first day off. The mining city of Broken Hill and its surroundings have a lot to see and do, eg a trip to Silverton, where Mad Max still is present. In the evening, you should not miss sunset at Sculpture Park / Living Desert. And besides all that, do not forget to refresh yourself in the pool and just relax.
We say goodby to the outback and head south over the Silver City Highway to Victoria again. Our destination for today is Red Cliffs, adjacent to the Murray Sunset National Park and Hattah Kulkyne National Park.
With 390 km, this is going to be the longest daily stretch to master. The day takes us straight to Halls Gap within the boundaries of Gariwerd - Grampians National Park. On the way, the increasing occurrence of curves prepares us for the next day. In the evening, you should use the opportunity of enjoying one of the unique sunsets.
Day 9 is your next day off and should be used to explore this magnificent national park. The park treats you not only with heaps of curves but also hiking- and abseiling, a unique abundance of flora and fauna and so many things to see and do, that only one day is hardly enough to see it all. Our tour guides will give you individual advice to help you make the most of your day and stay.
The next 240 km take us over beautiful roads straight to the sea to Warrnambool. A visit of Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum should be on your schedule before winding down the evening at the pool of on the beach.
This day offers another highlight of the tour: the Great Ocean Road. From Warrnambool one breathtaking coastal landscape will follow the other. You should not miss out on a detour to Cape Otway Lighthouse. Cape Otway National Park offers the only opportunity to see the only cool-temperatured rainforest in Victoria. For dinner, you can choose from one of the numerous cafés and restaurants in Apollo Bay, while the beach invites you to a late-night bath.
To make the farewell not too hard for you, we will take some last curves on our way from Apollo bay back to Castlemaine. The stretch goes through ancient forests, which make the decision “driving curves or just staring in awe” nearly unbearable. We close the evening and the tour with a goodbye-dinner in Castlemaine.
